"IndicationAndUsage": "FLOVENT HFA is indicated for the maintenance treatment of asthma as prophylactic therapy in adult and pediatric patients aged 4 years and older. Limitations of Use. FLOVENT HFA is not indicated for the relief of acute bronchospasm.",
      "Description": "FLOVENT HFA is a pressurized metered dose inhaler for oral inhalation. The active component of FLOVENT HFA 44 mcg, FLOVENT HFA 110 mcg, and FLOVENT HFA 220 mcg is fluticasone propionate, a corticosteroid having the chemical name S-(fluoromethyl) 6α,9-difluoro-11β,17-dihydroxy-16α-methyl-3-oxoandrosta-1,4-diene-17β-carbothioate,17-propionate and the following chemical structure. Fluticasone propionate is a white powder with a molecular weight of 500.6, and the empirical formula is C25H31F3O5S. It is practically insoluble in water, freely soluble in dimethyl sulfoxide and dimethylformamide, and slightly soluble in methanol and 95% ethanol. FLOVENT HFA is a dark orange plastic inhaler with a peach cap containing a pressurized metered-dose aerosol canister fitted with a counter. Each canister contains a microcrystalline suspension of micronized fluticasone propionate in propellant HFA-134a (1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane). It contains no other excipients. After priming, each actuation of the inhaler delivers 50, 125, or 250 mcg of fluticasone propionate in 60 mg of suspension (for the 44-mcg product) or in 75 mg of suspension (for the 110- and 220-mcg products) from the valve. Each actuation delivers 44, 110, or 220 mcg of fluticasone propionate from the actuator. The actual amount of drug delivered to the lung will depend on patient factors, such as the coordination between the actuation of the inhaler and inspiration through the delivery system. Prime FLOVENT HFA before using for the first time by releasing 4 sprays into the air away from the face, shaking well for 5 seconds before each spray. In cases where the inhaler has not been used for more than 7 days or when it has been dropped, prime the inhaler again by shaking well for 5 seconds and releasing 1 spray into the air away from the face. Avoid spraying in eyes."

      "IndicationAndUsage": "Penicillamine capsules are indicated in the treatment of Wilson's disease, cystinuria, and in patients with severe, active rheumatoid arthritis who have failed to respond to an adequate trial of conventional therapy. Available evidence suggests that penicillamine capsules are not of value in ankylosing spondylitis. Wilson’s Disease—. Wilson’s disease (hepatolenticular degeneration) occurs in individuals who have inherited an autosomal recessive defect that leads to an accumulation of copper far in excess of metabolic requirements. The excess copper is deposited in several organs and tissues, and eventually produces pathological effects primarily in the liver, where damage progresses to postnecrotic cirrhosis, and in the brain, where degeneration is widespread. Copper is also deposited as characteristic, asymptomatic, golden-brown Kayser-Fleischer rings in the corneas of all patients with cerebral symptomatology and some patients who are either asymptomatic or manifest only hepatic symptomatology. Two types of patients require treatment for Wilson's disease: (1) the symptomatic, and (2) the asymptomatic in whom it can be assumed the disease will develop in the future if the patient is not treated. The diagnosis, if suspected on the basis of family or individual history or physical examination, can be confirmed if the plasma copper-protein ceruloplasmin** is <20 mg/dL and either a quantitative determination in a liver biopsy specimen shows an abnormally high concentration of copper (>250 mcg/g dry weight) or Kayser- Fleischer rings are present. Treatment has two objectives. to minimize dietary intake of copper; to promote excretion and complex formation (i.e., detoxification) of excess tissue copper. The first objective is attained by a daily diet that contains no more than one or two milligrams of copper. Such a diet should exclude, most importantly, chocolate, nuts, shellfish, mushrooms, liver, molasses, broccoli, and cereals and dietary supplements enriched with copper, and be composed to as great an extent as possible of foods with a low copper content. Distilled or demineralized water should be used if the patient's drinking water contains more than 0.1 mg of copper per liter. For the second objective, a copper chelating agent is used. In symptomatic patients this treatment usually produces marked neurologic improvement, fading of Kayser- Fleischer rings, and gradual amelioration of hepatic dysfunction and psychic disturbances. Clinical experience to date suggests that life is prolonged with the above regimen. Noticeable improvement may not occur for one to three months. Occasionally, neurologic symptoms become worse during initiation of therapy with penicillamine capsules. Despite this, the drug should not be withdrawn. Temporary interruption carries an increased risk of developing a sensitivity reaction upon resumption of therapy, although it may result in clinical improvement of neurological symptoms (see WARNINGS). If the neurological symptoms and signs continue to worsen for a month after the initiation of penicillamine capsules therapy, several short courses of treatment with 2,3 - dimercaprol (BAL) while continuing penicillamine capsules may be considered. Treatment of asymptomatic patients has been carried out for over thirty years. Symptoms and signs of the disease appear to be prevented indefinitely if daily treatment with penicillamine capsules are continued. Cystinuria —. Cystinuria is characterized by excessive urinary excretion of the dibasic amino acids, arginine, lysine, ornithine, and cystine, and the mixed disulfide of cysteine and homocysteine. The metabolic defect that leads to cystinuria is inherited as an autosomal, recessive trait. Metabolism of the affected amino acids is influenced by at least two abnormal factors: (1) defective gastrointestinal absorption and (2) renal tubular dysfunction. Arginine, lysine, ornithine, and cysteine are soluble substances, readily excreted. There is no apparent pathology connected with their excretion in excessive quantities. Cystine, however, is so slightly soluble at the usual range of urinary pH that it is not excreted readily, and so crystallizes and forms stones in the urinary tract. Stone formation is the only known pathology in cystinuria. Normal daily output of cystine is 40 to 80 mg. In cystinuria, output is greatly increased and may exceed 1 g/day. At 500 to 600 mg/day, stone formation is almost certain. When it is more than 300 mg/day, treatment is indicated. Conventional treatment is directed at keeping urinary cystine diluted enough to prevent stone formation, keeping the urine alkaline enough to dissolve as much cystine as possible, and minimizing cystine production by a diet low in methionine (the major dietary precursor of cystine). Patients must drink enough fluid to keep urine specific gravity below 1.010, take enough alkali to keep urinary pH at 7.5 to 8.0, and maintain a diet low in methionine. This diet is not recommended in growing children and probably is contraindicated in pregnancy because of its low protein content (see PRECAUTIONS). When these measures are inadequate to control recurrent stone formation, penicillamine capsules may be used as additional therapy, and when patients refuse to adhere to conventional treatment, penicillamine capsules may be a useful substitute. It is capable of keeping cystine excretion to near normal values, thereby hindering stone formation and the serious consequences of pyelonephritis and impaired renal function that develop in some patients. Bartter and colleagues depict the process by which penicillamine interacts with cystine to form penicillamine- cysteine mixed disulfide as. In this process, it is assumed that the deprotonated form of penicillamine, PS', is the active factor in bringing about the disulfide interchange. Rheumatoid Arthritis —. Because penicillamine capsules can cause severe adverse reactions, its use in rheumatoid arthritis should be restricted to patients who have severe, active disease and who have failed to respond to an adequate trial of conventional therapy. Even then, benefit-to-risk ratio should be carefully considered. Other measures, such as rest, physiotherapy, salicylates, and corticosteroids should be used, when indicated, in conjunction with penicillamine capsules (see PRECAUTIONS). ** For quantitative test for serum ceruloplasmin see: Morell, A.G.; Windsor, J.; Sternlieb, I.; Scheinberg, I.H.: Measurement of the concentration of ceruloplasmin in serum by determination of its oxidase activity, in “Laboratory Diagnosis of Liver Disease”, F.W. Sunderman; F.W. Sunderman, Jr. (eds.), St. Louis, Warren H. Green, Inc., 1968, pp. 193-195.",
      "Description": "Penicillamine is a chelating agent used in the treatment of Wilson's disease. It is also used to reduce cystine excretion in cystinuria and to treat patients with severe, active rheumatoid arthritis unresponsive to conventional therapy (see INDICATIONS). It is 3-mercapto-D-valine. It is a white or practically white, crystalline powder, freely soluble in water, slightly soluble in alcohol, and insoluble in ether, acetone, benzene, and carbon tetrachloride. Although its configuration is D, it is levorotatory as usually measured:. calculated on a dried basis. The empirical formula is C 5H 11NO 2S, giving it a molecular weight of 149.21. The structural formula is:. It reacts readily with formaldehyde or acetone to form a thiazolidine-carboxylic acid. Penicillamine Capsules, USP for oral administration contain 250 mg of penicillamine. Each capsule contains the following inactive ingredients: Anhydrous lactose, FD & C Yellow # 6, gelatin, magnesium stearate, and titanium dioxide. In addition, capsule printing ink contains ammonium hydroxide, black iron oxide, propylene glycol, and shellac glaze."

    <IndicationAndUsage>FLOVENT HFA is indicated for the maintenance treatment of asthma as prophylactic therapy in adult and pediatric patients aged 4 years and older. Limitations of Use. FLOVENT HFA is not indicated for the relief of acute bronchospasm.</IndicationAndUsage>

FLOVENT HFA is a pressurized metered dose inhaler for oral inhalation. Avoid spraying in eyes.

    <IndicationAndUsage>Penicillamine capsules are indicated in the treatment of Wilson's disease, cystinuria, and in patients with severe, active rheumatoid arthritis who have failed to respond to an adequate trial of conventional therapy. 193-195.</IndicationAndUsage>

Penicillamine is a chelating agent used in the treatment of Wilson's disease. In addition, capsule printing ink contains ammonium hydroxide, black iron oxide, propylene glycol, and shellac glaze.

Using REST to Invoke DataLabs API

Introduction

This document is intended for developers who want to write applications that can interact with the DataLabs REST API. With DataLabs Web Services, you can create a customized services for your own website or application. You can use the REST API to retrieve DataLabs Web Services results programmatically.

Important: The REST API requires the use of an API key, which you can get from the DataLabs MyAccount Console.

Working With DataLabs REST API

You can retrieve results for a particular operation (search, getcode, etc) by sending an HTTP GET request to its URI.
For instance, the URI for a “search” request has the following format:

https://www.datalabs.health/api/{domain}/{operation}?q={query}&rt={result type}&token={token}

If the request succeeds, the server responds with a 200 OK HTTP status code and the response data.

Four parameters are required with each “search” request:

  • Use the domain parameter to specify required data domain.
  • Use the operation parameter to specify “format_check” operation.
  • Use the q (query) parameter to specify your query.
  • Use the token (API key) query parameter to identify your application.

Optional parameter:

DataLabs Coding Library - Quering NPI Registry - REST API Examples

Use Case #1 - I Need to Find Healthcare Provider (Doctor or Orgranization) Having Just Partial Information

So, you have to find healthcare provider having just partial information. For instance all you have is "EYE doctor RANIA in REDMOND". Strictly speaking, it is necessary to perform a search with minimum information and the maximum level of relevance of the result.

Coding example below demonstrates simplest implementation in C# language. By default DataLabs full text search API returns 30 results and, as you may see below, the first result in the list is "REDMOND EYE DOCTORS, PLLC" where dr. Rania Montecillo specified an owner.

Feel free to use and modify this code to find doctors you may know. If you provide more or less meaningfull information you will be pleasantly surprised to see them in the search results.

Full Text Search Fundamentals

Facts

Everybody uses full text search. Full-text search is the most common technique used in search engines. The amount of information has just become too much to access it using navigation and categories alone. Full-text search reduces the hassle of searching for a keyword in huge amounts of metadata, such as the World Wide Web and commercial-scale databases. Full-text search became popular in late 1990s, when the Internet and Big Data began to became a part of everyday life.

How does it work

Users only provide keywords and expect the search engine to provide good results. Relevancy of documents is expected to be good and users want the results they are looking to be present in the top ten. How relevant a document is search engine decides based on scientifically proven algorithms. Besides getting the best results the user wants to be supported during the search process. Features like suggestions and highlighting on the result excerpt can help with this.

Full Text Search & DataLabs REST API

DataLabs REST API allows you to search the full text of healthcare providers database (NPI Registry). To find the information you need and make your search easy, please use our REST API for automation, or visit our NPI Lookup page for manual search ( NPI Number Lookup). We are still improving and enhancing Full Text NPI Search based on users feedbacks. Please email your comments and suggestions for improvement using our feedback page.

Use Case #2 - I Need to Find Detailed Healthcare Provider Information Using Known NPI Number

This is very common scenario. You need to get full replica of NPI record. Again, it simple. Just use code provided below. API response may contain single NPI record, or empty list in case NPI does not exist in the CMS National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES) Registry.

    //--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    // Perform "getcode" operation to get healthcare provider information using NPI number.
    //--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    using System;
    using System.Net.Http;
    using System.Threading.Tasks;

    public class Program
    {
        private const string token = "3932f3b0-cfab-11dc-95ff-0800200c9a663932f3b0-cfab-11dc-95ff-0800200c9a66";

        static async Task Main(string[] args)
        {
            string endPoint = $"https://www.datalabs.health/api/npi/getcode?q=1285636522&token={token}";
            using HttpClient client = new HttpClient();
            string response = await client.GetStringAsync(endPoint);

            Console.WriteLine(response);

            Console.WriteLine("Done. Press any key to exit ...");
            Console.ReadKey();
        }
    }

Use Case #3 - I Need to Get Multiple Healthcare Providers Using List of NPI Numbers

You may need to perform bulk search for performance optimization. The "getcodes" operation allows you to decrease number of round trips in orders of magnitude. For instance you can get information about hundred NPI in one REST call, instead of sending NPI numbers one-by-one.

    //--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    // Perform "getcodes" operation to get multiple healthcare providers using list of NPIs.

Use Case #4 - I Need to Check NPI Number Status

Again, very common scenario. You just need to check NPI number status. It is simple. Take a look at the code below. Expected result contains requested NPI number, status, and short status description.

    //--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    // Perform "check_status" operation to get NPI Number status (active, deactivated, etc).
    //--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    using System;
    using System.Net.Http;
    using System.Threading.Tasks;

    public class Program
    {
        private const string token = "3932f3b0-cfab-11dc-95ff-0800200c9a663932f3b0-cfab-11dc-95ff-0800200c9a66";

        static async Task Main(string[] args)
        {
            string endPoint = $"https://www.datalabs.health/api/npi/check_status?q=1285636522&token={token}";
            using HttpClient client = new HttpClient();
            string response = await client.GetStringAsync(endPoint);

            Console.WriteLine(response);

            Console.WriteLine("Done. Press any key to exit ...");
            Console.ReadKey();
        }
    }

Output

    {
      "Code": "1285636522",
      "Status": "Active",
      "Message": "\"1285636522\" NPI Number does exist and has \"active\" status"
    }

    Done. Press any key to exit ...

Use Case #5 - I need to retrieve a list of healthcare providers based on specified search parameters.

The system allows users to retrieve a list of healthcare providers by filtering on specified fields (e.g., organization name, state, city, ZIP code, etc.). The example below demonstrates how to retrieve all providers with a specified city, state, and ZIP code.

    //--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    // Perform "search_with_predicates" operation to get multiple healthcare providers using specified city, state, and ZIP code.
    //--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    using System;
    using System.Net.Http;
    using System.Threading.Tasks;

    public class Program
    {
        private const string token = "3932f3b0-cfab-11dc-95ff-0800200c9a663932f3b0-cfab-11dc-95ff-0800200c9a66";

        static async Task Main(string[] args)
        {
            string endPoint = $"https://www.datalabs.health/api/npi/search_with_predicates?q=&qf=City:true:REDMOND&qf=State:true:OR&qf=Zip:true:97756-9069&rt=json&token={token}";
            using HttpClient client = new HttpClient();
            string response = await client.GetStringAsync(endPoint);

            Console.WriteLine(response);

            Console.WriteLine("Done. Press any key to exit ...");
            Console.ReadKey();
        }
