"IndicationAndUsage": "Dextrose Injection (5% and 10%) is indicated as source of water and calories in adult and pediatric patients, and may also be used as a diluent for reconstitution of a powder or liquid drug product.",
"Description": "Dextrose Injection, 5% and 10% USP are sterile, non-pyrogenic solutions of Dextrose, USP in Water for Injection in a polyvinylchloride flexible plastic container for intravenous administration as a source of water and calories. Partial-fill containers, designed to facilitate admixture when necessary, are available in 25 mL, 50 mL, 100 mL, 250 mL, 500 mL, and 1000 mL sizes. See Table 1 for the content and characteristics of this solution. The solution contains no bacteriostatic, antimicrobial agent or added buffer and is intended only for use as a single-dose injection. The pH range is 4.0 (3.2 to 6.5). Water can permeate from inside the container into the overwrap but not in amounts sufficient to affect the solution significantly. Dextrose, USP is chemically designated D-glucose, monohydrate (C6H12O6 H2O), a hexose sugar freely soluble in water. The molecular weight of dextrose (D-glucose) monohydrate is 198.17. It has the following structural formula. Water for Injection, USP is chemically designated H2O. Dextrose is derived from corn. The VIAFLEX Plus plastic container is fabricated from polyvinyl chloride (PL 146 Plastic). VIAFLEX Plus on the container indicates the presence of a drug additive in a drug vehicle. The VIAFLEX Plus plastic container system utilizes the same container as the VIAFLEX plastic container system. The amount of water that can permeate from inside the container into the overwrap is insufficient to affect the solution. Solutions in contact with the plastic container can leach out certain of its chemical components in small amounts within the expiration period, e.g., di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP), up to 5 parts per million. The safety of the plastic has been confirmed in tests in animals according to USP biological tests for plastic containers as well as by tissue culture toxicity studies."

Solutions in contact with the plastic container can leach out certain of its chemical components in very small amounts within the expiration period, e.g., di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP), up to 5 parts per million. However, the safety of the plastic has been confirmed in tests in animals according to USP biological tests for plastic containers as well as by tissue culture toxicity studies."

It contains no antimicrobial agents. The pH is adjusted with sodium hydroxide. The pH is 7.4 (6.5 to 8.0). PLASMA-LYTE A Injection pH 7.4 (Multiple Electrolytes Injection, Type 1, USP) administered intravenously has value as a source of water, electrolytes, and calories. One liter has an ionic concentration of 140 mEq sodium, 5 mEq potassium, 3 mEq magnesium, 98 mEq chloride, 27 mEq acetate, and 23 mEq gluconate. The osmolarity is 294 mOsmol/L (calc). Normal physiologic osmolarity range is 280 to 310 mOsmol/L. The caloric content is 21 kcal/L. The VIAFLEX plastic container is fabricated from a specially formulated polyvinyl chloride (PL 146 Plastic). The amount of water that can permeate from inside the container into the overwrap is insufficient to affect the solution significantly.

"IndicationAndUsage": "Heparin Sodium in Sodium Chloride Injection at a concentration of 2 units/mL is indicated as an anticoagulant to maintain catheter patency.",
"Description": "Heparin is a heterogenous group of straight-chain anionic mucopolysaccharides, called glycosaminoglycans having anticoagulant properties. Although others may be present, the main sugars occurring in heparin are: (1) α-L-iduronic acid 2-sulfate, (2) 2-deoxy-2-sulfamino-α-D-glucose 6-sulfate, (3) β-D-glucuronic acid, (4) 2-acetamido-2-deoxy-α-D- glucose, and (5) α-L-iduronic acid. These sugars are present in decreasing amounts, usually in the order (2) > (1) > (4) > (3) > (5), and are joined by glycosidic linkages, forming polymers of varying sizes. Heparin is strongly acidic because of its content of covalently linked sulfate and carboxylic acid groups. In heparin sodium, the acidic protons of the sulfate units are partially replaced by sodium ions. Heparin Sodium in Sodium Chloride Injection is a buffered, sterile, nonpyrogenic solution of Heparin Sodium, USP derived from porcine intestinal mucosa, standardized for anticoagulant activity supplied in single dose containers for vascular administration. It contains no antimicrobial agents. The potency is determined by a biological assay using a USP reference standard based on units of heparin activity per milligram. Composition, osmolarity, pH and ionic concentration are shown in Table 1. This VIAFLEX PLUS plastic container is fabricated from a specially formulated polyvinyl chloride (PL 146 Plastic). VIAFLEX PLUS on the container indicates the presence of a drug additive in a drug vehicle. <IndicationAndUsage>Dextrose Injection (5% and 10%) is indicated as source of water and calories in adult and pediatric patients, and may also be used as a diluent for reconstitution of a powder or liquid drug product.</IndicationAndUsage>
<Description>Dextrose Injection, 5% and 10% USP are sterile, non-pyrogenic solutions of Dextrose, USP in Water for Injection in a polyvinylchloride flexible plastic container for intravenous administration as a source of water and calories. The safety of the plastic has been confirmed in tests in animals according to USP biological tests for plastic containers as well as by tissue culture toxicity studies.</Description>

<IndicationAndUsage>5% Dextrose and Electrolyte No. 48 Injection (Multiple Electrolytes and Dextrose Injection, Type 1, USP) is indicated as a source of water, electrolytes, and calories or as an alkalinizing agent.</IndicationAndUsage>
<Description>5% Dextrose and Electrolyte No. 48 Injection (Multiple Electrolytes and Dextrose Injection, Type 1, USP) is a sterile, nonpyrogenic solution for fluid and electrolyte replenishment and caloric supply in a single dose container for intravenous administration. Each 100 mL contains 5 g Dextrose Hydrous, USP*, 260 mg Sodium Lactate (C3H5NaO3), 141 mg Potassium Chloride, USP (KCl), 31 mg Magnesium Chloride, USP (MgCl26H20), 20 mg Monobasic Potassium Phosphate, NF (KH2PO4), and 12 mg Sodium Chloride, USP (NaCl). It contains no antimicrobial agents. The pH is 5.0 (4.0 to 6.5). 5% Dextrose and Electrolyte No. 48 Injection (Multiple Electrolytes and Dextrose Injection, Type 1, USP) administered intravenously has value as a source of water, electrolytes, and calories. One liter has an ionic concentration of 25 mEq sodium, 20 mEq potassium, 3 mEq magnesium, 24 mEq chloride, 23 mEq lactate and 3 mEq phosphate (as HPO42-). The osmolarity is 348 mOsmol/L (calc). Normal physiologic osmolarity range is approximately 280 to 310 mOsmol/L. Administration of substantially hypertonic solutions (≥ 600 mOsmol/L) may cause vein damage. The caloric content is 180 kcal/L. Dextrose is derived from corn. The VIAFLEX plastic container is fabricated from a specially formulated polyvinyl chloride (PL 146 Plastic). The amount of water that can permeate from inside the container into the overwrap is insufficient to affect the solution significantly. Solutions in contact with the plastic container can leach out certain of its chemical components in very small amounts within the expiration period, e.g., di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP), up to 5 parts per million. However, the safety of the plastic has been confirmed in tests in animals according to USP biological tests for plastic containers as well as by tissue culture toxicity studies.</Description>

<IndicationAndUsage>OSMITROL is indicated for: : 1 The reduction of intracranial pressure and treatment of cerebral edema;, 2 The reduction of elevated intraocular pressure.</IndicationAndUsage>
<Description>OSMITROL is a sterile, nonpyrogenic solution of Mannitol, USP in a single-dose flexible container for intravenous administration as an osmotic diuretic. It contains no antimicrobial agents. Mannitol is a six carbon sugar alcohol prepared commercially by the reduction of dextrose. The pH is adjusted with sodium hydroxide or hydrochloric acid. Composition, osmolarity, and pH are shown in Table 1. The plastic container is fabricated from a specially formulated polyvinyl chloride (PL 146 Plastic).

<IndicationAndUsage>Heparin Sodium in Sodium Chloride Injection at a concentration of 2 units/mL is indicated as an anticoagulant to maintain catheter patency.</IndicationAndUsage>
<Description>Heparin is a heterogenous group of straight-chain anionic mucopolysaccharides, called glycosaminoglycans having anticoagulant properties. The VIAFLEX PLUS plastic container system utilizes the same container as the VIAFLEX plastic container system.
