Limitations of Use. The use of methylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release tablets is not recommended in pediatric patients younger than 6 years of age because they had higher plasma exposure and a higher incidence of adverse reactions (e.g., weight loss) than patients 6 years and older at the same dosage [see Warnings and Precautions (5.7), and Use in Specific Populations (8.4)].",
"Description": "Methylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release tablets, USP are a central nervous system (CNS) stimulant. Methylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release tablets, USP are available in five tablet strengths. Each extended-release tablet for once-a-day oral administration contains 18, 27, 36, 54, or 72 mg of methylphenidate HCl USP and is designed to have a 12-hour duration of effect.
