"Description": "Venlafaxine extended-release tablets are extended-release tablets for oral administration that contain venlafaxine hydrochloride USP, a structurally novel antidepressant. Venlafaxine hydrochloride USP is a selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI). It is designated (R/S)-1-[2-(dimethylamino)-1-(4-methoxyphenyl)ethyl] cyclohexanol hydrochloride or (±)-1-[α- [(dimethylamino)methyl]-p-methoxybenzyl] cyclohexanol hydrochloride and has the molecular formula of C17H27NO2 HCl. Its molecular weight is 313.86. The structural formula is shown below. Venlafaxine hydrochloride USP is a white to off-white crystalline powder with a solubility of 683 mg/mL in water (adjusted to ionic strength of 0.2 M with sodium chloride). Its octanol:water (0.2 M sodium chloride) partition coefficient is 0.43. Venlafaxine extended-release tablets are formulated as extended-release tablet for once-a-day oral administration. Venlafaxine extended-release tablets use osmotic pressure to deliver venlafaxine hydrochloride at a controlled rate over approximately 24 hours. The system, which resembles a conventional tablet in appearance, comprises an osmotically active core surrounded by a semipermeable membrane. The unitary tablet core is composed of the drug and excipients (including the osmotically active components). There is a precision-laser drilled orifice in the semipermeable membrane on the side of the tablet. In an aqueous environment, such as the gastrointestinal tract, water permeates through the membrane into the tablet core, causing the drug to dissolve and the osmotic components to expand. This expansion pushes the drug out through the orifice. The semipermeable membrane controls the rate at which water permeates into the tablet core, which in turn controls the rate of drug delivery. The controlled rate of drug delivery into the gastrointestinal lumen is thus independent of pH or gastrointestinal motility. The function of venlafaxine extended-release tablets depends on the existence of an osmotic gradient between the contents of the core and the fluid in the gastrointestinal tract. Since the osmotic gradient remains constant, drug delivery remains essentially constant. The biologically inert components of the tablet remain intact during gastrointestinal transit and are eliminated in the feces as an insoluble shell. Tablets contain venlafaxine hydrochloride equivalent to 37.5 mg, 75 mg, 150 mg, or 225 mg venlafaxine. Inactive ingredients consist of colloidal silicon dioxide, cellulose acetate, lactose monohydrate, mannitol, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, povidone, polyethylene glycol. Imprinting ink contains shellac glaze, black iron oxide, propylene glycol."

<IndicationAndUsage>Venlafaxine extended-release tablets are a selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) indicated for: 1 Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) (1.1), 2 Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD) (1.2).</IndicationAndUsage>
<Description>Venlafaxine extended-release tablets are extended-release tablets for oral administration that contain venlafaxine hydrochloride USP, a structurally novel antidepressant. Imprinting ink contains shellac glaze, black iron oxide, propylene glycol.</Description>

<IndicationAndUsage>Venlafaxine extended-release tablets are a selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) indicated for: 1 Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) (1.1), 2 Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD) (1.2).</IndicationAndUsage>
<Description>Venlafaxine extended-release tablets are extended-release tablets for oral administration that contain venlafaxine hydrochloride USP, a structurally novel antidepressant. Imprinting ink contains shellac glaze, black iron oxide, propylene glycol.</Description>

<IndicationAndUsage>1.1 Schizophrenia. Quetiapine tablets are indicated for the treatment of schizophrenia. The efficacy of quetiapine tablets in schizophrenia was established in three 6-week trials in adults and one 6-week trial in adolescents (13 to 17 years). The effectiveness of quetiapine tablets for the maintenance treatment of schizophrenia has not been systematically evaluated in controlled clinical trials [see CLINICAL STUDIES (14.1)]. 1.2 Bipolar Disorder. Quetiapine tablets are indicated for the acute treatment of manic episodes associated with bipolar I disorder, both as monotherapy and as an adjunct to lithium or divalproex. Efficacy was established in two 12-week monotherapy trials in adults, in one 3-week adjunctive trial in adults, and in one 3-week monotherapy trial in pediatric patients (10 to 17 years) [see CLINICAL STUDIES (14.2)]. Quetiapine tablets are indicated as monotherapy for the acute treatment of depressive episodes associated with bipolar disorder. Efficacy was established in two 8-week monotherapy trials in adult patients with bipolar I and bipolar II disorder [see CLINICAL STUDIES (14.2)]. Quetiapine tablets are indicated for the maintenance treatment of bipolar I disorder, as an adjunct to lithium or divalproex. Efficacy was established in two maintenance trials in adults. The effectiveness of quetiapine tablets as monotherapy for the maintenance treatment of bipolar disorder has not been systematically evaluated in controlled clinical trials [see CLINICAL STUDIES (14.2)]. 1.3 Special Considerations in Treating Pediatric Schizophrenia and Bipolar I Disorder. Pediatric schizophrenia and bipolar I disorder are serious mental disorders, however, diagnosis can be challenging. For pediatric schizophrenia, symptom profiles can be variable, and for bipolar I disorder, patients may have variable patterns of periodicity of manic or mixed symptoms. It is recommended that medication therapy for pediatric schizophrenia and bipolar I disorder be initiated only after a thorough diagnostic evaluation has been performed and careful consideration given to the risks associated with medication treatment. Medication treatment for both pediatric schizophrenia and bipolar I disorder is indicated as part of a total treatment program that often includes psychological, educational and social interventions.</IndicationAndUsage>
