"IndicationAndUsage": "Amiloride hydrochloride and hydrochlorothiazide tablets are indicated in those patients with hypertension or with congestive heart failure who develop hypokalemia when thiazides or other kaliuretic diuretics are used alone, or in whom maintenance of normal serum potassium levels is considered to be clinically important, e.g., digitalized patients, or patients with significant cardiac arrhythmias. The use of potassium-conserving agents is often unnecessary in patients receiving diuretics for uncomplicated essential hypertension when such patients have a normal diet. Amiloride hydrochloride and hydrochlorothiazide tablets may be used alone or as an adjunct to other antihypertensive drugs, such as methyldopa or beta blockers. Since amiloride hydrochloride and hydrochlorothiazide enhances the action of these agents, dosage adjustments may be necessary to avoid an excessive fall in blood pressure and other unwanted side effects. This fixed combination drug is not indicated for the initial therapy of edema or hypertension except in individuals in whom the development of hypokalemia cannot be risked.",
"Description": "Amiloride hydrochloride and hydrochlorothiazide tablets combine the potassium-conserving action of amiloride hydrochloride with the natriuretic action of hydrochlorothiazide. Amiloride HCl is designated chemically as 3,5-diamino-6-chloro-N-(diaminomethylene)pyrazinecarboxamide monohydrochloride, dihydrate. It has the following structural formula. C6H8ClN7OHCl2H2O MW = 302.12. Hydrochlorothiazide is designated chemically as 6-chloro-3,4-dihydro-2H-1,2,4-benzothiadiazine-7-sulfonamide 1,1-dioxide. It has the following structural formula. C7H8ClN3O4S2 MW = 297.74. It is a white, or practically white, crystalline powder which is slightly soluble in water, but freely soluble in sodium hydroxide solution. Each tablet, for oral administration, contains 5 mg of amiloride hydrochloride (calculated on the anhydrous basis) and 50 mg of hydrochlorothiazide. In addition, each tablet contains the following inactive ingredients: croscarmellose sodium, lactose (hydrous), magnesium stearate, pregelatinized starch, sodium lauryl sulfate, and FD&C Yellow #6 Aluminum Lake."

"IndicationAndUsage": "Prazosin Hydrochloride Capsules, USP is indicated for the treatment of hypertension, to lower blood pressure. Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of fatal and nonfatal cardiovascular events, primarily strokes and myocardial infarctions. These benefits have been seen in controlled trials of antihypertensive drugs from a wide variety of pharmacologic classes, including this drug. Control of high blood pressure should be part of comprehensive cardiovascular risk management, including, as appropriate, lipid control, diabetes management, antithrombotic therapy, smoking cessation, exercise, and limited sodium intake. Many patients will require more than one drug to achieve blood pressure goals. For specific advice on goals and management, see published guidelines, such as those of the National High Blood Pressure Education Program's Joint National Committee on Prevention, Detection, Evaluation, and Treatment of High Blood Pressure (JNC). Numerous antihypertensive drugs, from a variety of pharmacologic classes and with different mechanisms of action, have been shown in randomized controlled trials to reduce cardiovascular morbidity and mortality, and it can be concluded that it is blood pressure reduction, and not some other pharmacologic property of the drugs, that is largely responsible for those benefits. The largest and most consistent cardiovascular outcome benefit has been a reduction in the risk of stroke, but reductions in myocardial infarction and cardiovascular mortality also have been seen regularly. Elevated systolic or diastolic pressure causes increased cardiovascular risk, and the absolute risk increase per mmHg is greater at higher blood pressures, so that even modest reductions of severe hypertension can provide substantial benefit. Relative risk reduction from blood pressure reduction is similar across populations with varying absolute risk, so the absolute benefit is greater in patients who are at higher risk independent of their hypertension (for example, patients with diabetes or hyperlipidemia), and such patients would be expected to benefit from more aggressive treatment to a lower blood pressure goal. Some antihypertensive drugs have smaller blood pressure effects (as monotherapy) in black patients, and many antihypertensive drugs have additional approved indications and effects (e.g., on angina, heart failure, or diabetic kidney disease). These considerations may guide selection of therapy. Prazosin Hydrochloride Capsules, USP can be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive drugs such as diuretics or beta-adrenergic blocking agents.",
"Description": "Prazosin hydrochloride, USP a quinazoline derivative, is the first of a new chemical class of antihypertensives. It is the hydrochloride salt of 1-(4-amino-6,7-dimethoxy-2-quinazolinyl)-4-(2-furoyl) piperazine and its structural formula is. Molecular formula C 19H 21N 5O 4HCl. It is a white to tan powder, slightly soluble in water, practically insoluble in chloroform and acetone and has a molecular weight of 419.87. Each capsule, for oral administration, contains prazosin hydrochloride, USP equivalent (as the polyhydrate) to 1 mg, 2 mg or 5 mg of prazosin. Inert ingredients in the formulations are: colloidal silicon dioxide, lactose monohydrate, lactose anhydrous, magnesium stearate and microcrystalline cellulose. The empty hard gelatin capsules contain black iron oxide, gelatin, red iron oxide, titanium dioxide and yellow iron oxide. In addition, the 1 mg empty gelatin capsules contain D&C Yellow No. 10 and FD&C Green No. 3; the 2 mg empty gelatin capsules contain D&C Red No. 28, D&C Yellow No. 10, FD&C Blue No. 1 and FD&C Red No. 40; and the 5 mg empty gelatin capsules contain FD&C Blue No. 1. <IndicationAndUsage>Amiloride hydrochloride and hydrochlorothiazide tablets are indicated in those patients with hypertension or with congestive heart failure who develop hypokalemia when thiazides or other kaliuretic diuretics are used alone, or in whom maintenance of normal serum potassium levels is considered to be clinically important, e.g., digitalized patients, or patients with significant cardiac arrhythmias. This fixed combination drug is not indicated for the initial therapy of edema or hypertension except in individuals in whom the development of hypokalemia cannot be risked.</IndicationAndUsage>
<Description>Amiloride hydrochloride and hydrochlorothiazide tablets combine the potassium-conserving action of amiloride hydrochloride with the natriuretic action of hydrochlorothiazide. In addition, each tablet contains the following inactive ingredients: croscarmellose sodium, lactose (hydrous), magnesium stearate, pregelatinized starch, sodium lauryl sulfate, and FD&C Yellow #6 Aluminum Lake.</Description>

<IndicationAndUsage>Prazosin Hydrochloride Capsules, USP is indicated for the treatment of hypertension, to lower blood pressure. Prazosin Hydrochloride Capsules, USP can be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive drugs such as diuretics or beta-adrenergic blocking agents.</IndicationAndUsage>
<Description>Prazosin hydrochloride, USP a quinazoline derivative, is the first of a new chemical class of antihypertensives. 1. <IndicationAndUsage>1. Sedative 2. Anticonvulsant - For the treatment of generalized and partial seizures.</IndicationAndUsage>
<Description>The barbiturates are nonselective central nervous system (CNS) depressants that are primarily used as sedative-hypnotics. In subhypnotic doses, they are also used as anticonvulsants. The barbiturates and their sodium salts are subject to control under the Federal Controlled Substances Act. Phenobarbital is a barbituric acid derivative and occurs as white, odorless, small crystals or crystalline powder that is very slightly soluble in water; soluble in alcohol, in ether, and in solutions of fixed alkali hydroxides and carbonates; sparingly soluble in chloroform. Phenobarbital is 5-ethyl-5- phenylbarbituric acid. Phenobarbital is a substituted pyrimidine derivative in which the basic structure is barbituric acid, a substance that has no CNS activity. CNS activity is obtained by substituting alkyl, alkenyl, or aryl groups on the pyrimidine ring. It has the following structural formula. C12H12N2O3 M.W. = 232.24 Each phenobarbital tablet contains 16.2 mg, 32.4 mg, 64.8 mg, or 97.2 mg of phenobarbital, USP.
