"IndicationAndUsage": "Isoniazid tablets are recommended for all forms of tuberculosis in which organisms are susceptible. However, active tuberculosis must be treated with multiple concomitant anti-tuberculosis medications to prevent the emergence of drug resistance. Single-drug treatment of active tuberculosis with isoniazid or any other medication, is inadequate therapy. Isoniazid tablets are recommended as preventive therapy for the following groups, regardless of age. (Note: the criterion for a positive reaction to a skin test (in millimeters of induration) for each group is given in parenthesis): 1 Persons with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection (greater than or equal to 5 mm) and persons with risk factors for HIV infection whose HIV infection status is unknown but who are suspected of having HIV infection. Preventive therapy may be considered for HIV infected persons who are tuberculin-negative but belong to groups in which the prevalence of tuberculosis infection is high. Candidates for preventive therapy who have HIV infection should have a minimum of 12 months of therapy., 2 Close contacts of persons with newly diagnosed infectious tuberculosis (greater than or equal to 5 mm). In addition, tuberculin-negative (less than 5 mm) children and adolescents who have been close contacts of infectious persons within the past 3 months are candidates for preventive therapy until a repeat tuberculin skin test is done 12 weeks after contact with the infectious source. If the repeat skin test is positive (greater than 5 mm), therapy should be continued., 3 Recent converters, as indicated by a tuberculin skin test (greater than or equal to 10 mm increase within a 2-year period for those less than 35 years old; greater than or equal to 15 mm increase for those greater than or equal to 35 years of age). All infants and children younger than 4 years of age with a greater than 10 mm skin test are included in this category., 4 Persons with abnormal chest radiographs that show fibrotic lesions likely to represent old healed tuberculosis (greater than or equal to 5 mm). Candidates for preventive therapy who have fibrotic pulmonary lesions consistent with healed tuberculosis or who have pulmonary silicosis should have 12 months of isoniazid or 4 months of isoniazid and rifampin, concomitantly., 5 Intravenous drug users known to be HIV-seronegative (greater than 10 mm)., 6 Persons with the following medical conditions that have been reported to increase the risk of tuberculosis (greater than or equal to 10 mm): silicosis; diabetes mellitus; prolonged therapy with adrenocorticosteroids; immunosuppressive therapy; some hematologic and reticuloendothelial diseases, such as leukemia or Hodgkin’s disease; end-stage renal disease; clinical situations associated with substantial rapid weight loss or chronic undernutrition (including: intestinal bypass surgery for obesity, the postgastrectomy state [with or without weight loss], chronic peptic ulcer disease, chronic malabsorption syndromes and carcinomas of the oropharynx and upper gastrointestinal tract that prevent adequate nutritional intake). Candidates for preventive therapy who have fibrotic pulmonary lesions consistent with healed tuberculosis or who have pulmonary silicosis should have 12 months of isoniazid or 4 months of isoniazid and rifampin, concomitantly.",

"IndicationAndUsage": "Nitrofurantoin Capsules, USP (monohydrate/ macrocrystals) are indicated only for the treatment of acute uncomplicated urinary tract infections (acute cystitis) caused by susceptible strains of Escherichia coli or Staphylococcus saprophyticus. Nitrofurantoin is not indicated for the treatment of pyelonephritis or perinephric abscesses. To reduce the development of drug-resistant bacteria and maintain the effectiveness of Nitrofurantoin Capsules, USP (monohydrate/ macrocrystals) and other antibacterial drugs,Nitrofurantoin Capsules, USP (monohydrate/ macrocrystals) should be used only to treat or prevent infections that are proven or strongly suspected to be caused by susceptible bacteria. When culture and susceptibility information are available, they should be considered in selecting or modifying antibacterial therapy. In the absence of such data, local epidemiology and susceptibility patterns may contribute to the empiric selection of therapy. Nitrofurantoins lack the broader tissue distribution of other therapeutic agents approved for urinary tract infections. Consequently, many patients who are treated with Nitrofurantoin Capsules, USP (monohydrate/ macrocrystals) are predisposed to persistence or reappearance of bacteriuria. (see CLINICAL STUDIES). Urine specimens for culture and susceptibility testing should be obtained before and after completion of therapy. If persistence or reappearance of bacteriuria occurs after treatment with Nitrofurantoin Capsules, USP (monohydrate/ macrocrystals), other therapeutic agents with broader tissue distribution should be selected. In considering the use of Nitrofurantoin Capsules, USP (monohydrate/ macrocrystals), lower eradication rates should be balanced against the increased potential for systemic toxicity and for the development of antimicrobial resistance when agents with broader tissue distribution are utilized.",

"IndicationAndUsage": "CARDURA® XL is indicated for the treatment of the signs and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). CARDURA XL is not indicated for the treatment of hypertension.",
"Description": "CARDURA XL contains doxazosin which is a quinazoline compound with the chemical name 1-(4-amino-6,7-dimethoxy-2-quinazolinyl)-4-(1,4-benzodioxan-2-ylcarbonyl) piperazine methanesulfonate. The empirical formula for doxazosin mesylate is C23H25N5O5 CH4O3S and the molecular weight is 547.6. It has the following structure. CARDURA XL is an extended-release tablet for oral use and is designed to deliver 4 or 8 mg of doxazosin as the free base. Each 4 and 8 mg tablet contains 5.1 and 10.2 mg doxazosin mesylate (includes a 5% overage) to ensure the labeled dose of 4 and 8 mg doxazosin as the free base (equivalent to 4.9 and 9.8 mg of doxazosin mesylate), is delivered. The inactive ingredients for CARDURA XL are black iron oxide, cellulose acetate, hypromellose, Macrogol®, magnesium stearate, pharmaceutical glaze, polyethylene oxide, red ferric oxide, sodium chloride and titanium dioxide. CARDURA XL System Components and Performance. CARDURA XL is similar in appearance to a conventional tablet. It consists, however, of an osmotically active drug core surrounded by a semipermeable membrane. The core itself is divided into two layers: an “active” layer containing the drug, and a “push” layer containing pharmacologically inert (but osmotically active) components. The membrane surrounding the tablet is permeable to water, but not to drug or osmotic excipients. As water from the gastrointestinal tract enters the tablet, pressure increases in the osmotic layer and “pushes” against the drug layer, resulting in the release of drug through a small, laser-drilled orifice in the membrane on the drug side of the tablet. CARDURA XL utilizes GITS (Gastrointestinal Therapeutic System) which is designed to provide a controlled rate of delivery of doxazosin into the gastrointestinal lumen which is independent of pH or gastrointestinal (GI) motility. The function of CARDURA XL depends upon the existence of an osmotic gradient between the contents of the bi-layer core and fluid in the GI tract. Drug delivery is essentially constant as long as the osmotic gradient remains constant, and then gradually falls to zero. The biologically inert components of the tablet remain intact during GI transit and are eliminated in the feces as an insoluble shell."

<IndicationAndUsage>To reduce the development of drug-resistant bacteria and maintain the effectiveness of cefdinir capsules and other antibacterial drugs, cefdinir capsules should be used only to treat or prevent infections that are proven or strongly suspected to be caused by susceptible bacteria. When culture and susceptibility information are available, they should be considered in selecting or modifying antibacterial therapy. In the absence of such data, local epidemiology and susceptibility patterns may contribute to the empiric selection of therapy. Cefdinir capsules are indicated for the treatment of patients with mild to moderate infections caused by susceptible strains of the designated microorganisms in the conditions listed below. Adults and Adolescents. Community-Acquired Pneumonia. Caused by Haemophilus influenzae(including β-lactamase producing strains), Haemophilus parainfluenzae(including β-lactamase producing strains), Streptococcus pneumoniae(penicillin-susceptible strains only), and Moraxella catarrhalis(including β-lactamase producing strains) (see CLINICAL STUDIES). Acute Exacerbations of Chronic Bronchitis. Caused by Haemophilus influenzae(including β-lactamase producing strains), Haemophilus parainfluenzae(including β-lactamase producing strains), Streptococcus pneumoniae(penicillin-susceptible strains only), and Moraxella catarrhalis(including β-lactamase producing strains). Acute Maxillary Sinusitis. Caused by Haemophilus influenzae(including β-lactamase producing strains), Streptococcus pneumoniae (penicillin-susceptible strains only), and Moraxella catarrhalis(including β-lactamase producing strains). NOTE:For information on use in pediatric patients, see Pediatric Use and DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION. Pharyngitis/Tonsillitis. Caused by Streptococcus pyogenes(see CLINICAL STUDIES). NOTE:Cefdinir is effective in the eradication of S. pyogenesfrom the oropharynx. Cefdinir has not, however, been studied for the prevention of rheumatic fever following S. pyogenespharyngitis/tonsillitis. Only intramuscular penicillin has been demonstrated to be effective for the prevention of rheumatic fever. Uncomplicated Skin and Skin Structure Infections. Caused by Staphylococcus aureus(including β-lactamase producing strains) and Streptococcus pyogenes. Pediatric Patients. Acute Bacterial Otitis Media. Caused by Haemophilus influenzae(including β-lactamase producing strains), Streptococcus pneumoniae (penicillin-susceptible strains only), and Moraxella catarrhalis(including β-lactamase producing strains). <IndicationAndUsage>Isoniazid tablets are recommended for all forms of tuberculosis in which organisms are susceptible. Candidates for preventive therapy who have fibrotic pulmonary lesions consistent with healed tuberculosis or who have pulmonary silicosis should have 12 months of isoniazid or 4 months of isoniazid and rifampin, concomitantly.</IndicationAndUsage>

<IndicationAndUsage>Nitrofurantoin Capsules, USP (monohydrate/ macrocrystals) are indicated only for the treatment of acute uncomplicated urinary tract infections (acute cystitis) caused by susceptible strains of Escherichia coli or Staphylococcus saprophyticus. In considering the use of Nitrofurantoin Capsules, USP (monohydrate/ macrocrystals), lower eradication rates should be balanced against the increased potential for systemic toxicity and for the development of antimicrobial resistance when agents with broader tissue distribution are utilized.</IndicationAndUsage>

<IndicationAndUsage>CARDURA® XL is indicated for the treatment of the signs and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). CARDURA XL is not indicated for the treatment of hypertension.</IndicationAndUsage>
<Description>CARDURA XL contains doxazosin which is a quinazoline compound with the chemical name 1-(4-amino-6,7-dimethoxy-2-quinazolinyl)-4-(1,4-benzodioxan-2-ylcarbonyl) piperazine methanesulfonate. The biologically inert components of the tablet remain intact during GI transit and are eliminated in the feces as an insoluble shell.</Description>
