<IndicationAndUsage>Therapy with lipid-altering agents should be only one component of multiple risk factor intervention in individuals at significantly increased risk for atherosclerotic vascular disease due to hyperlipidemia. Niacin therapy is indicated as an adjunct to diet when the response to a diet restricted in saturated fat and cholesterol and other nonpharmacologic measures alone has been inadequate. Limitations of Use. Addition of niacin extended-release tablets did not reduce cardiovascular morbidity or mortality among patients treated with simvastatin in a large, randomized controlled trial (AIM-HIGH) [see Warnings and Precautions (5.1)].</IndicationAndUsage>
<Description>Niacin extended-release tablets USP, contain niacin, USP, which at therapeutic doses is an antihyperlipidemic agent. Niacin USP (nicotinic acid, or 3-pyridinecarboxylic acid) is white crystals or crystalline powder, sparingly soluble in water, soluble in boiling alcohol, freely soluble in boiling water and in solutions of alkali hydroxides and carbonates. Very slightly soluble in ether, with the following structural formula: Niacin extended-release tablets USP are white to off-white, film-coated tablets for oral administration and are available in three tablet strengths containing 500 mg, 750 mg, and 1,000 mg niacin, USP. Niacin extended-release tablets USP also contain the inactive ingredients: colloidal silicon dioxide, hydrogenated castor oil, hypromellose, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, polyethylene glycol, titanium dioxide. USP dissolution test is pending.</Description>

<IndicationAndUsage>Maintenance of Normal Sinus Rhythm (Delay in AF/AFl Recurrence) Dofetilide capsules are indicated for the maintenance of normal sinus rhythm (delay in time to recurrence of atrial fibrillation/atrial flutter [AF/AFl]) in patients with atrial fibrillation/atrial flutter of greater than one week duration who have been converted to normal sinus rhythm. Because dofetilide capsules can cause life threatening ventricular arrhythmias, it should be reserved for patients in whom atrial fibrillation/atrial flutter is highly symptomatic. In general, antiarrhythmic therapy for atrial fibrillation/atrial flutter aims to prolong the time in normal sinus rhythm. Recurrence is expected in some patients (see CLINICAL STUDIES). Conversion of Atrial Fibrillation/Flutter Dofetilide capsules are indicated for the conversion of atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter to normal sinus rhythm. Dofetilide capsules have not been shown to be effective in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation.</IndicationAndUsage>

<IndicationAndUsage>Propafenone hydrochloride extended-release capsules are indicated to prolong the time to recurrence of symptomatic atrial fibrillation (AF) in patients with episodic (most likely paroxysmal or persistent) AF who do not have structural heart disease. Usage Considerations: 1 The use of propafenone hydrochloride extended-release capsules in patients with permanent AF or in patients exclusively with atrial flutter or paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT) has not been evaluated. Do not use propafenone hydrochloride extended-release capsules to control ventricular rate during AF., 2 Some patients with atrial flutter treated with propafenone have developed 1:1 conduction, producing an increase in ventricular rate. Concomitant treatment with drugs that increase the functional atrioventricular (AV) nodal refractory period is recommended., 3 The effect of propafenone on mortality has not been determined [see Boxed Warning].</IndicationAndUsage>
<Description>Propafenone hydrochloride is an antiarrhythmic drug supplied in extended-release capsules of 225 mg, 325 mg, and 425 mg for oral administration. Propafenone hydrochloride has some structural similarities to beta-blocking agents. The structural formula of propafenone hydrochloride is given below. Propafenone hydrochloride, USP occurs as white or almost white powder or colorless crystals. It is soluble in methanol and hot water, slightly soluble in 96% ethanol and cold water. Propafenone hydrochloride extended-release capsules USP are filled with 2 mm white to off white round biconvex microtablets containing propafenone and the following inactive ingredients: gelatin, hypromellose, magnesium stearate, polyethylene glycol, red iron oxide, shellac, sodium lauryl sulphate and titanium dioxide.</Description>
