"IndicationAndUsage": "Opium tincture is useful for the treatment of diarrhea.",
"Description": "Opium Tincture, USP (Deodorized), is for oral administration. It is freed from unpleasant odor or nauseating substances by “denarcotization” with a petroleum distillate. Opium tincture is a clear, reddish-brown hydroalcoholic solution. Each 100 mL contains 1 g of anhydrous morphine (represents the equivalent of 10 g of Powdered Opium, USP), alcohol, 19%, and water. Opium has a very characteristic odor and a very bitter taste. The opiates are the most effective and prompt-acting nonspecific antidiarrheal agents."

"IndicationAndUsage": "Promethazine Hydrochloride and Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide Oral Solution is indicated for the temporary relief of coughs and upper respiratory symptoms associated with allergy or the common cold.",
"Description": "Each 5 mL (teaspoon) of Promethazine Hydrochloride and Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide Oral Solution contains 6.25 mg promethazine hydrochloride USP and 15 mg dextromethorphan hydrobromide USP in a flavored syrup base with a pH between 4.5 and 5.5. The inactive ingredients present are alcohol 7% (v/v), ascorbic acid, citric acid, black currant flavor, D&C Yellow 10, edetate disodium, FD&C Yellow 6, glycerin, L-Menthol, sodium benzoate, sodium citrate, sodium propionate, saccharin sodium, sucrose, and water. Promethazine hydrochloride USP is a racemic compound; the empirical formula is C17H20N2SHCl and its molecular weight is 320.88. Promethazine hydrochloride USP, a phenothiazine derivative, is chemically designated as 10H-Phenothiazine-10-ethanamine, N,N, α-trimethyl-, monohydrochloride, (+)- with the following structural formula. Promethazine hydrochloride USP occurs as a white to faint yellow, practically odorless, crystalline powder which slowly oxidizes and turns blue on prolonged exposure to air. It is freely soluble in water and soluble in alcohol. Dextromethorphan hydrobromide USP is a salt of the methyl ether of the dextrorotatory isomer of levorphanol, a narcotic analgesic. It is chemically designated as 3-methoxy-17-methyl-9α, 13α, 14α–morphinan hydrobromide monohydrate with the following structural formula. Dextromethorphan hydrobromide monohydrate occurs as white crystals, is sparingly soluble in water, and is freely soluble in alcohol. The empirical formula is C18H25NOHBrH2O, and the molecular weight of the monohydrate is 370.33. Dextromethorphan hydrobromide monohydrate is dextrorotatory with a specific rotation of +27.6 degrees in water (20 degrees C, sodium D-line)."

"IndicationAndUsage": "Metformin hydrochloride extended-release tablets are indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.",
"Description": "Metformin hydrochloride extended-release tablets contain the biguanidine antihyperglycemic agent, metformin, in the form of monohydrochloride salt. The chemical name of metformin HCl is N, N-dimethylimidodicarbonimidic diamide hydrochloride with a molecular formula of C4H11N5HCl and a molecular weight of 165.63. Its structural formula is. Metformin HCl is a white to off-white crystalline powder that is freely soluble in water and is practically insoluble in acetone, ether, and chloroform. The pKa of metformin is 12.4. The pH of a 1% aqueous solution of metformin HCl is 6.68. Metformin hydrochloride extended-release tablets deliver 500 mg or 1,000 mg of metformin HCl, which is equivalent to 389.93 mg or 779.86 mg metformin, respectively. In addition to the active ingredient metformin HCl, each tablet contains the following inactive ingredients: crospovidone, povidone (K-30, K-90), pregelatinised starch, magnesium stearate, sodium lauryl sulfate, hydroxypropyl cellulose, talc, cellulose acetate, polyethylene glycol (PEG 400, PEG 3350), triacetin, polyvinyl alcohol, titanium dioxide, black iron oxide, propylene glycol and hypromellose. FDA approved dissolution test specifications differ from the USP."

"Description": "Olanzapine, USP is an atypical antipsychotic that belongs to the thienobenzodiazepine class. The chemical designation is 2-methyl-4-(4-methyl-1-piperazinyl)- 10H-thieno[2,3- b] [1,5]benzodiazepine. The molecular formula is C 17H 20N 4S, which corresponds to a molecular weight of 312.44. The chemical structure is:. Olanzapine, USP is a yellow crystalline solid, which is practically insoluble in water. Olanzapine Tablets, USP are intended for oral administration only. Each tablet contains olanzapine equivalent to 2.5 mg (8 mcmol), 5 mg (16 mcmol), 7.5 mg (24 mcmol), 10 mg (32 mcmol), 15 mg (48 mcmol), or 20 mg (64 mcmol). Inactive ingredients are lactose monohydrate, maize starch, colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate, crospovidone, microcrystalline cellulose and talc. Olanzapine orally disintegrating tablets are intended for oral administration only. Each orally disintegrating tablet contains olanzapine equivalent to 5 mg (16 mcmol), 10 mg (32 mcmol), 15 mg (48 mcmol) or 20 mg (64 mcmol). It begins disintegrating in the mouth within seconds, allowing its contents to be subsequently swallowed with or without liquid. Olanzapine orally disintegrating tablets also contain the following inactive ingredients: aspartame, lactose monohydrate, maize starch, colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate, crospovidone, microcrystalline cellulose and talc. Olanzapine orally disintegrating tablets meet USP Disintegration Test 2."

The chemical name of valacyclovir hydrochloride is L-valine, 2-[(2-amino-1,6-dihydro-6-oxo-9H-purin-9-yl)methoxy]ethyl ester, monohydrochloride. It has the following structural formula. Valacyclovir hydrochloride is a white to off-white powder with the molecular formula C13H20N6O4HCl and a molecular weight of 360.80. The maximum solubility in water at 25°C is 174 mg/mL. The pkas for valacyclovir hydrochloride are 1.90, 7.47, and 9.43."

"IndicationAndUsage": "Clobetasol propionate topical solution is indicated for short-term topical treatment of inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of moderate to severe corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses of the scalp. Treatment beyond 2 consecutive weeks is not recommended, and the total dosage should not exceed 50 mL/week because of the potential for the drug to suppress the HPA axis. This product is not recommended for use in pediatric patients under 12 years of age."

"Description": "Azithromycin tablets USP contain the active ingredient azithromycin, USP, a macrolide antibacterial drug, for oral administration. Azithromycin, USP has the chemical name (2R,3S,4R,5R,8R,10R,11R,12S,13S,14R)-13-[(2,6-dideoxy-3-C-methyl-3-O-methyl-α-L-ribo-hexopyranosyl) oxy]-2-ethyl-3,4,10-trihydroxy-3,5,6,8,10,12,14-heptamethyl-11-[[3,4,6-trideoxy-3-(dimethylamino)-β-D-xylo-hexopyranosyl]oxy]-1-oxa-6-azacyclopentadecan-15-one. Azithromycin, USP is derived from erythromycin; however, it differs chemically from erythromycin in that a methyl-substituted nitrogen atom is incorporated into the lactone ring. Azithromycin, USP has the following structural formula. C38H72N2O12 M.W. 749. Azithromycin, USP, as the monohydrate, is a white crystalline powder with a molecular formula of C38H72N2O12H2O and a molecular weight of 767. Azithromycin tablets USP are supplied for oral administration as tablets containing azithromycin monohydrate equivalent to either 250 mg or 500 mg azithromycin, USP and the following inactive ingredients: corn starch, dibasic calcium phosphate anhydrous, croscarmellose sodium, hypromellose, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, polyethylene glycol, sodium citrate, sodium lauryl sulfate, and titanium dioxide. The 500 mg tablets also contain FD&C blue #2."

"IndicationAndUsage": "Mesalamine Rectal Suspension Enema is indicated for the treatment of active mild to moderate distal ulcerative colitis, proctosigmoiditis or proctitis in adults.",
"Description": "The active ingredient in Mesalamine Rectal Suspension Enema, a disposable (60 mL) unit, is mesalamine, also known as 5-aminosalicylic acid (5-ASA). Chemically, mesalamine is 5-amino-2-hydroxybenzoic acid. The empirical formula is C7H7NO3, representing a molecular weight of 153.14. The structural formula is. Each rectal suspension enema unit contains 4 grams of mesalamine. In addition to mesalamine the preparation contains the inactive ingredients carbomer 934P, edetate disodium, potassium acetate, potassium metabisulfite, purified water and xanthan gum. Sodium benzoate is added as a preservative. The disposable unit consists of an applicator tip protected by a polyethylene cover and lubricated with USP white petrolatum. The unit has a one-way valve to prevent back flow of the dispensed product."

"Description": "Dipyridamole Tablets USP are a platelet inhibitor chemically described as 2,2',2'',2'''-[(4,8-Dipiperidinopyrimido[5,4-d]pyrimidine-2,6-diyl)dinitrilo]-tetraethanol. It has the following structural formula. Dipyridamole is an odorless yellow crystalline powder, having a bitter taste. It is soluble in dilute acids, methanol and chloroform, and practically insoluble in water. Dipyridamole Tablets USP for oral administration contain. Active Ingredient TABLETS 25 mg, 50 mg, and 75 mg: dipyridamole USP 25 mg, 50 mg and 75 mg, respectively. Inactive Ingredients TABLETS 25 mg, 50 mg, and 75 mg: corn starch, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, polyethylene glycol, polyvinyl alcohol, povidone, sodium bicarbonate, sodium lauryl sulfate, talc, and titanium dioxide."

The onset of action of oral isosorbide mononitrate is not sufficiently rapid for this product to be useful in aborting an acute anginal episode.",
"Description": "Isosorbide mononitrate, an organic nitrate, is a vasodilator with effects on both arteries and veins. The empirical formula is C6H9NO6 and the molecular weight is 191.14. The chemical name for Isosorbide mononitrate is 1,4:3,6-Dianhydro-D-glucitol 5-nitrate and the compound has the following structural formula. Isosorbide Mononitrate Tablets USP, for oral administration, are available in 10 mg and 20 mg tablets. Each tablet contains the following inactive ingredients: lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, sodium starch glycolate, povidone, magnesium stearate, polyvinyl alcohol, polyethylene glycol, titanium dioxide, and talc. The 20 mg tablets also contain D&C yellow #10 aluminum lake, FD&C yellow #6 aluminum lake, and FD&C blue #2 aluminum lake. FDA approved dissolution test specifications differ from USP."
