"IndicationAndUsage": "Dexmethylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release capsules are indicated for the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in patients aged 6 years and older. The effectiveness of dexmethylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release in the treatment of ADHD in patients aged 6 years and older was established in 2 placebo-controlled studies in patients meeting DSM-IV criteria for ADHD [see Clinical Studies (14)]. A diagnosis of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD; DSM-IV) implies the presence of hyperactive-impulsive or inattentive symptoms that caused impairment and were present before age 7 years. The symptoms must cause clinically significant impairment, e.g., in social, academic, or occupational functioning, and be present in 2 or more settings, e.g., school (or work) and at home. The symptoms must not be better accounted for by another mental disorder. For the Inattentive Type, at least 6 of the following symptoms must have persisted for at least 6 months: lack of attention to details/careless mistakes; lack of sustained attention; poor listener; failure to follow through on tasks; poor organization; avoids tasks requiring sustained mental effort; loses things; easily distracted; forgetful. For the Hyperactive-Impulsive Type, at least 6 of the following symptoms must have persisted for at least 6 months: fidgeting/squirming; leaving seat; inappropriate running/climbing; difficulty with quiet activities; “on the go”; excessive talking; blurting answers; can’t wait turn; intrusive. The Combined Types requires both inattentive and hyperactive-impulsive criteria to be met. Special Diagnostic Considerations. Specific etiology of this syndrome is unknown, and there is no single diagnostic test. Adequate diagnosis requires the use not only of medical but of special psychological, educational, and social resources. Learning may or may not be impaired. The diagnosis must be based upon a complete history and evaluation of the child and not solely on the presence of the required number of DSM-IV characteristics. Need for Comprehensive Treatment Program. Dexmethylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release capsules are indicated as an integral part of a total treatment program for ADHD that may include other measures (psychological, educational, social) for patients with this syndrome. Drug treatment may not be indicated for all children with this syndrome. Stimulants are not intended for use in the child who exhibits symptoms secondary to environmental factors and/or other primary psychiatric disorders, including psychosis. Appropriate educational placement is essential and psychosocial intervention is often helpful. When remedial measures alone are insufficient, the decision to prescribe stimulant medication will depend upon the physician’s assessment of the chronicity and severity of the child’s symptoms. Long-Term Use. The effectiveness of dexmethylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release for long-term use, i.e., for more than 7 weeks, has not been systematically evaluated in controlled trials. Therefore, the physician who elects to use dexmethylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release for extended periods should periodically reevaluate the long-term usefulness of the drug for the individual patient [see Dosage and Administration (2.3)].",
"Description": "Dexmethylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release capsules are an extended-release formulation of dexmethylphenidate with a bi-modal release profile. Each bead-filled dexmethylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release capsule contains half the dose as immediate-release beads and half as enteric-coated, delayed-release beads, thus providing an immediate release of dexmethylphenidate and a second delayed release of dexmethylphenidate. Dexmethylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release is available as 5 mg, 10 mg, 15 mg, 20 mg and 30 mg extended-release capsules. Dexmethylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release 5 mg, 10 mg, 15 mg, 20 mg and 30 mg extended-release capsules provide in a single dose the same amount of dexmethylphenidate as dosages of 2.5 mg, 5 mg, 7.5 mg, 10 mg or 15 mg of dexmethylphenidate hydrochloride given twice a day as tablets. Dexmethylphenidate hydrochloride, the d-threo enantiomer of racemic methylphenidate hydrochloride, is a central nervous system (CNS) stimulant. Dexmethylphenidate hydrochloride is methyl α-phenyl-2-piperidineacetate hydrochloride, (R,R’)-(+)-. Its molecular formula is C14H19NO2HCl. Its molecular weight is 269.77 and its structural formula is. Note* = asymmetric carbon center. Dexmethylphenidate hydrochloride is a white to off white powder. Its solutions are acid to litmus. It is freely soluble in water and in methanol, soluble in alcohol, and slightly soluble in chloroform and in acetone. Inactive ingredients: acetyltributyl citrate, ethylcellulose, gelatin, hypromellose, hypromellose acetate succinate, sugar spheres (which contain sucrose and starch [maize]), talc, and titanium dioxide. The 5 mg capsule also contains FD&C Red #3 and FD&C Blue #1. The 10 mg capsule also contains acid red 27 and FD&C Blue #1. The 15 mg capsule also contains D&C Red #28 and FD&C Blue #1. The 20 mg capsule also contains D&C Red #28, D&C Red #33, and FD&C Blue #1. Black printing ink SW-9008/SW-9009 contains black iron oxide, potassium hydroxide, propylene glycol, and shellac."

Where appropriate, restoration of blood volume with a suitable plasma expander or whole blood should be instituted or completed prior to administration of dopamine hydrochloride. Patients most likely to respond adequately to dopamine hydrochloride are those in whom physiological parameters, such as urine flow, myocardial function and blood pressure have not undergone profound deterioration. Reports indicate that the shorter the time interval between onset of signs and symptoms and initiation of therapy with volume correction and dopamine hydrochloride, the better the prognosis.",
"Description": "Dopamine Hydrochloride and 5% Dextrose Injection, USP is a sterile, nonpyrogenic solution of Dopamine Hydrochloride, USP and Dextrose, USP in Water for Injection. Structural formulas are shown below. Dopamine Hydrochloride and 5% Dextrose Injection, USP is intended for intravenous use only. It contains no antimicrobial agents. The pH is adjusted with hydrochloric acid and is 3.5 (2.5 to 4.5). Approximately 5 mEq/L sodium bisulfite is added as a stabilizer. The solution provides a caloric content of 170 kcal/L. The solution is intended for single use only. When smaller doses are required, the unused portion should be discarded. Composition and osmolarity are given below. 800 mcg/mL Dopamine Hydrochloride and 5% Dextrose Injection, USP provides 800 mcg/mL Dopamine Hydrochloride, USP and 50 g/L Dextrose Hydrous, USP with an osmolarity of 261 mOsmol/L (calc). 1600 mcg/mL Dopamine Hydrochloride and 5% Dextrose Injection, USP provides 1600 mcg/mL Dopamine Hydrochloride, USP and 50 g/L Dextrose Hydrous, USP with an osmolarity of 269 mOsmol/L (calc). 3200 mcg/mL Dopamine Hydrochloride and 5% Dextrose Injection, USP provides 3200 mcg/mL Dopamine Hydrochloride, USP and 50 g/L Dextrose Hydrous, USP with an osmolarity of 286 mOsmol/L (calc). Dopamine administered intravenously is a myocardial inotropic agent which also may increase mesenteric and renal blood flow plus urinary output. Dopamine hydrochloride is designated chemically as 3,4-dihydroxyphenethylamine hydrochloride, a white crystalline powder freely soluble in water. Dopamine (also referred to as 3-hydroxytyramine) is a naturally occurring biochemical catecholamine precursor of norepinephrine. This VIAFLEX Plus plastic container is fabricated from a specially formulated polyvinyl chloride (PL 2207 Plastic). VIAFLEX containers, including VIAFLEX Plus containers, are made of flexible plastic and are for parenteral use. VIAFLEX Plus on the container indicates the presence of a drug additive in a drug vehicle. The amount of water that can permeate from inside the container into the overwrap is insufficient to affect the solution significantly. Solutions in contact with the plastic container can leach out certain of its chemical components in very small amounts within the expiration period, e.g., di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP), up to 5 parts per million. However, the safety of the plastic has been confirmed in tests in animals according to USP biological tests for plastic containers as well as by tissue culture toxicity studies."

"IndicationAndUsage": "Dopamine hydrochloride is indicated for the correction of hemodynamic imbalances present in the shock syndrome due to myocardial infarctions, trauma, endotoxic septicemia, open heart surgery, renal failure and chronic cardiac decompensation as in congestive failure.

"IndicationAndUsage": "Methylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release tablets are indicated for the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in adults (up to the age of 65 years) and pediatric patients 6 years of age and older [see Clinical Studies (14)]. Limitations of Use. The use of methylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release tablets is not recommended in pediatric patients younger than 6 years of age because they had higher plasma exposure and a higher incidence of adverse reactions (e.g., weight loss) than patients 6 years and older at the same dosage [see Warnings and Precautions (5.7), Use in Specific Populations (8.4)].",
"Description": "Methylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release tablets contain methylphenidate a CNS stimulant, present as methylphenidate hydrochloride salt. Chemically, methylphenidate hydrochloride is d,l (racemic) methyl α-phenyl-2-piperidineacetate hydrochloride. Its empirical formula is C14H19NO2HCl. Its structural formula is. Methylphenidate hydrochloride is a white, odorless crystalline powder. Its solutions are acid to litmus. It is freely soluble in water and in methanol, soluble in alcohol, and slightly soluble in chloroform and in acetone. It has a pKa of 8.71 (at 21.5°C). Its molecular weight is 269.77. Methylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release tablets are for oral administration and is available in the following strengths: 18 mg, 27 mg, 36 mg, 45 mg, 54 mg, 63 mg, and 72 mg containing methylphenidate hydrochloride (equivalent to 15.6 mg, 23.4 mg, 31.1 mg, 38.9 mg, 46.7 mg, 54.5 mg, and 62.3 mg methylphenidate respectively). Methylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release tablets contain the following inactive ingredients: cellulose acetate, colloidal silicon dioxide, ferrosoferric oxide, hypromellose, iron oxide black, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, phosphoric acid, polyethylene glycol, polyethylene oxide, sodium chloride, succinic acid, titanium dioxide, triacetin. Methylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release tablets also contain the following color additives:. 27 mg: FD&C Yellow #6 Aluminum Lake, FD&C Blue #2 Aluminum Lake, FD&C Red #40 Aluminum Lake. 45 mg: FD&C Red #40 Aluminum Lake. 54 mg: FD&C Yellow #6 Aluminum Lake, FD&C Red #40 Aluminum Lake, FD&C Blue #2 Aluminum Lake. 18 and 63 mg: iron oxide red, iron oxide yellow. 72 mg: FD&C Blue #1 Aluminum Lake. System Components and Performance. Methylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release tablets use osmotic pressure to deliver methylphenidate hydrochloride at a controlled rate. The system, which resembles a conventional tablet in appearance, comprises an osmotically active bilayer core surrounded by a semipermeable membrane with an immediate-release drug overcoat. The bilayer core is composed of a drug layer containing the drug and excipients, and a push layer containing osmotically active components. There is a precision-laser drilled orifice on the drug-layer end of the tablet. In an aqueous environment, such as the gastrointestinal tract, the drug overcoat dissolves within one hour, providing an initial dose of methylphenidate. Water permeates through the membrane into the tablet core. As the osmotically active polymer excipients expand, methylphenidate is released through the orifice. The membrane controls the rate at which water enters the tablet core, which in turn controls drug delivery. Furthermore, the drug release rate from the system increases with time over a period of 6 to 7 hours due to the drug-concentration gradient incorporated into the two drug layers of core of methylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release tablets. The biologically inert components of the tablet remain intact during gastrointestinal transit and are eliminated in the stool as a tablet shell along with insoluble core components. It is possible that methylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release tablets may be visible on abdominal x-rays under certain circumstances, especially when digital enhancing techniques are utilized."

<IndicationAndUsage>Dexmethylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release capsules are indicated for the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in patients aged 6 years and older. Therefore, the physician who elects to use dexmethylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release for extended periods should periodically reevaluate the long-term usefulness of the drug for the individual patient [see Dosage and Administration (2.3)].</IndicationAndUsage>
<Description>Dexmethylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release capsules are an extended-release formulation of dexmethylphenidate with a bi-modal release profile. <IndicationAndUsage>Dexmethylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release capsules are indicated for the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in patients aged 6 years and older.
Black printing ink SW-9008/SW-9009 contains black iron oxide, potassium hydroxide, propylene glycol, and shellac.</Description>

<IndicationAndUsage>Dexmethylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release capsules are indicated for the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) [see Clinical Studies (14)]. Limitations of Use. The use of dexmethylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release capsules is not recommended in pediatric patients younger than 6 years of age because they had higher plasma exposure and a higher incidence of adverse reactions (e.g., weight loss) than patients 6 years and older at the same dosage [see Warnings and Precautions (5.7), Use in Specific Populations (8.4)].</IndicationAndUsage>
<Description>Dexmethylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release capsules contains dexmethylphenidate hydrochloride, a CNS stimulant. Dexmethylphenidate hydrochloride is the d-threo enantiomer of racemic methylphenidate hydrochloride. Dexmethylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release capsules are an extended-release formulation of dexmethylphenidate with a bi-modal release profile. Each bead-filled dexmethylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release capsule contains half the dose as immediate-release beads and half as enteric-coated, delayed-release beads, thus providing an immediate release of dexmethylphenidate and a delayed-release of dexmethylphenidate. Dexmethylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release capsules are intended for oral administration and are available as 5 mg, 10 mg, 15 mg, 20 mg and 30 mg extended-release capsules. Chemically, dexmethylphenidate hydrochloride is methyl α-phenyl-2-piperidineacetate hydrochloride, (R,R’)-(+)-. Its molecular formula is C14H19NO2HCl. Its structural formula is. Note* = asymmetric carbon center. Dexmethylphenidate hydrochloride is a white to off-white powder. Its solutions are acid to litmus. It is freely soluble in water and in methanol, soluble in alcohol, and slightly soluble in chloroform and in acetone. Its molecular weight is 269.77 g/mol. Inactive ingredients: Acetyltributyl citrate, ethylcellulose, gelatin, hypromellose, hypromellose acetate succinate, sugar spheres (which contain sucrose and starch [maize]), talc, and titanium dioxide. The 5 mg capsule also contains FD&C Red #3 and FD&C Blue #1. The 10 mg capsule also contains acid red 27 and FD&C Blue #1. The 15 mg capsule also contains D&C Red #28 and FD&C Blue #1. The 20 mg capsule also contains D&C Red #28, D&C Red #33, and FD&C Blue #1. <IndicationAndUsage>Dopamine hydrochloride is indicated for the correction of hemodynamic imbalances present in the shock syndrome due to myocardial infarctions, trauma, endotoxic septicemia, open heart surgery, renal failure and chronic cardiac decompensation as in congestive failure. Reports indicate that the shorter the time interval between onset of signs and symptoms and initiation of therapy with volume correction and dopamine hydrochloride, the better the prognosis.</IndicationAndUsage>
<Description>Dopamine Hydrochloride and 5% Dextrose Injection, USP is a sterile, nonpyrogenic solution of Dopamine Hydrochloride, USP and Dextrose, USP in Water for Injection. However, the safety of the plastic has been confirmed in tests in animals according to USP biological tests for plastic containers as well as by tissue culture toxicity studies.</Description>

However, the safety of the plastic has been confirmed in tests in animals according to USP biological tests for plastic containers as well as by tissue culture toxicity studies.</Description>

<IndicationAndUsage>Methylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release tablets are indicated for the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in adults (up to the age of 65 years) and pediatric patients 6 years of age and older [see Clinical Studies (14)]. Limitations of Use. The use of methylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release tablets is not recommended in pediatric patients younger than 6 years of age because they had higher plasma exposure and a higher incidence of adverse reactions (e.g., weight loss) than patients 6 years and older at the same dosage [see Warnings and Precautions (5.7), Use in Specific Populations (8.4)].</IndicationAndUsage>
<Description>Methylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release tablets contain methylphenidate a CNS stimulant, present as methylphenidate hydrochloride salt. It is possible that methylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release tablets may be visible on abdominal x-rays under certain circumstances, especially when digital enhancing techniques are utilized.</Description>
