"Description": "Potassium chloride extended-release capsules, USP, 10 mEq is an oral dosage form of microencapsulated potassium chloride containing 750 mg of potassium chloride USP equivalent to 10 mEq of potassium. Dispersibility of potassium chloride (KCl) is accomplished by microencapsulation and a dispersing agent. The resultant flow characteristics of the KCl microcapsules and the controlled release of K+ ions by the microcapsular membrane are intended to avoid the possibility that excessive amounts of KCl can be localized at any point on the mucosa of the gastrointestinal tract. Each crystal of KCl is microencapsulated by a process with an insoluble polymeric coating which functions as a semi-permeable membrane; it allows for the controlled release of potassium and chloride ions over an eight-to-ten-hour period. Fluids pass through the membrane and gradually dissolve the potassium chloride within the micro-capsules. The resulting potassium chloride solution slowly diffuses outward through the membrane. Potassium chloride extended-release capsules, USP, 10 mEq are electrolyte replenishers. The chemical name of the active ingredient is potassium chloride USP and the structural formula is KCl. Potassium chloride USP occurs as a granular crystalline powder. It is freely soluble in water and practically insoluble in ethanol. The inactive ingredients are, ethylcellulose, FD&C red #3, FD&C yellow # 6, gelatin, magnesium stearate, sodium lauryl sulfate, talc and titanium dioxide. The imprinting ink contains the following: black iron oxide, potassium hydroxide and shellac."

<IndicationAndUsage>Allergenic extract may be used as a diagnostic skin test reagent in persons suspected of being sensitive to the allergenic source material from which the extract is made. Skin tests should be used in conjunction with a thorough allergic history to establish the relevance of a given allergen in the etiology of allergic disease. (4,5,6) Immunotherapy with allergenic extract is indicated in persons suffering from allergic rhinitis, bronchitis, conjunctivitis, urticaria and asthma. The therapeutic efficacy of allergenic extract has been proven in ragweed, grass, and mountain cedar pollinosis, cat-induced asthma and hypersensitivity to hymenoptera venoms. (7-12). Immunotherapy may be used along with or exclusive of antihistamines and other medications used to control allergic symptoms.</IndicationAndUsage>

Allergenic extract contains the aqueous extractables from allergenic source material in extracting solution containing 0.25% sodium chloride, 0.125% sodium bicarbonate, and 50% glycerol. 0.4% phenol is added as a preservative. The weight by volume value shown on the label is a measurement of extract concentration, rather than extract potency. Extracts for which U.S. standards exist are labeled in allergy units, in addition to w/v strength.

<IndicationAndUsage>BECAUSE OF REPORTS OF INTESTINAL AND GASTRIC ULCERATION AND BLEEDING WITH CONTROLLED-RELEASE POTASSIUM CHLORIDE PREPARATIONS, THESE DRUGS SHOULD BE RESERVED FOR THOSE PATIENTS WHO CANNOT TOLERATE OR REFUSE TO TAKE LIQUID OR EFFERVESCENT POTASSIUM PREPARATIONS OR FOR PATIENTS IN WHOM THERE IS A PROBLEM OF COMPLIANCE WITH THESE PREPARATIONS. : 1 1.For the treatment of patients with hypokalemia with or without metabolic alkalosis, in digitalis intoxications, and in patients with hypokalemic familial periodic paralysis. If hypokalemia is the result of diuretic therapy, consideration should be given to the use of a lower dose of diuretic, which may be sufficient without leading to hypokalemia., 2 2.For the prevention of hypokalemia in patients who would be at particular risk if hypokalemia were to develop e.g., digitalized patients or patients with significant cardiac arrhythmias, hepatic cirrhosis with ascites, states of aldosterone excess with normal renal function, potassium-losing nephropathy, and certain diarrheal states.</IndicationAndUsage>

Potassium chloride extended-release capsules, USP, 10 mEq is an oral dosage form of microencapsulated potassium chloride containing 750 mg of potassium chloride USP equivalent to 10 mEq of potassium. The imprinting ink contains the following: black iron oxide, potassium hydroxide and shellac.

<IndicationAndUsage>Cinacalcet is a positive modulator of the calcium sensing receptor indicated for:. Secondary Hyperparathyroidism (HPT) in adult patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) on dialysis. (1.1). Limitations of Use: Cinacalcet is not indicated for use in patients with CKD who are not on dialysis. Hypercalcemia in adult patients with Parathyroid Carcinoma (PC). (1.2). Severe hypercalcemia in adult patients with primary HPT who are unable to parathyroidectomy. (1.3).</IndicationAndUsage>

Cinacalcet tablets contain the hydrochloride salt of the active ingredient cinacalcet, a positive modulator of the calcium sensing receptor. The empirical formula for cinacalcet is C22H22F3N·HCl with a molecular weight of 393.9 g/mol (hydrochloride salt) and 357.4 g/mol (free base). It has one chiral center having an R-absolute configuration. The R-enantiomer is the more potent enantiomer and has been shown to be responsible for pharmacodynamic activity. The hydrochloride salt of cinacalcet is a white to off-white powder that is soluble in methanol and dimethylformamide. The hydrochloride salt of cinacalcet is described chemically as N-[1-(R)-(-)-(1- naphthyl)ethyl]-3- [3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-1-aminopropane hydrochloride and has the following structural formula. Cinacalcet tablets are formulated as light-green, film-coated, oval-shaped tablets for oral administration in strengths of 30 mg, 60 mg, and 90 mg of cinacalcet equivalent (33 mg, 66 mg, and 99 mg as cincalcet hydrochloride salt, respectively). Inactive Ingredients. The following are the inactive ingredients in cinacalcet tablets: pre-gelatinized starch, microcrystalline cellulose, crospovidone, colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate, hypermellose, polyethylene glycols, lactose monohydrate, titanium dioxide, triacetin, ferric oxide yellow, FD&C blue #2 and carnauba wax.
